Smith International Inc, formed the Completion technology group from companies with strong product lines and can do attitudes. These companies, Lindsey and Milcor, began as service companies and know the value of customer participation in equipment design and development. Lindsey began operation sin 1952 as MWL tool company in west Texas, a distributor of downhole oilfield equipment and was soon recognized as a supplier of premium quality, pre-completion and completion tools. Based on a history of innovative liner and completion equipment design and service, Lindsey began manufacturing its own line of equipment in 1982. Responsive to industry needs, the company developed the Pocket Slip Liner Hanger System to provide maximum liner hanging with minimal supporting casing stresses.

In addition to an expanded Pocket Slip product line, a full complement of various styles and types of liner hangers and liner accessory equipment is manufactured at Smith's principal manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas. Smith knows the importance of meeting customers equipment needs and quality expectations.

Although a recent Smith acquisition, Milcor Oil Tools has a length history as an oilfield service company. Established in 1980., Milcor distributed and serviced various types of packers used in completions and workover operations.

In 1988 Milcor began manufacturing components and accessories item for these operations. Gradually the company increased its manufacturing and design capability to supply an enlarged selection of packers and associated completion accessories.

Today Milcor designs, manufacturers and services a line of permanent and retrievable packers. Accessory completion components are manufactured to rigorous to complement the packer products.
